Ridgewood Water is the water supplier for Ridgewood, New Jersey, and neighboring towns. This spring I interviewed at the Ridgewood Water Department and secured a paid internship for the summer. During the summer, I will be going into the field and learning more about what Ridgewood Water does.
Ridgewood has had lead problems in the past, and most recently, we’ve had PFOA (Perfluorooctanoic acid), a man-made chemical used in industrial work, pollute the water. The movie “Dark Waters,” starring Mark Ruffalo, features this exact chemical that the chemical giant, DuPont, used while making Teflon-coated pans.
I’m looking forward to my time there during the summer and learning more about what Ridgewood Water is doing to improve water quality.
